What to Expect in Margate - Kent

Margate - Kent is a very popular seaside town in England. People have been flocking to the centre for over 200 years to enjoy its charm and beauty. The city has a population of about 50,000 and has historically always been an important maritime centre because of its location. It offers sandy beaches to holiday goers from all over the United Kingdom.
Margate is easy to access as it's served by rail. The town's train station opened in 1926. The region is quite diverse when it comes to employment as residents work in a variety of sectors. These include retail, manufacturing, health and social work, construction, education, real estate, transport and communications, hotels and restaurants, public administration, agriculture, and finance.
However, the area has suffered a little bit recently when it comes to tourism as many Britons are taking advantage of inexpensive holidays to the rest of Europe. But because of its proximity to London, many visitors from the nation's capital still visit on a regular basis.
There is plenty to do and see in Margate - Kent for people of all ages and interests. Some of the town's attractions include the Dreamland amusement park, a mini golf course, an art gallery, a museum, which was closed in 2008 and may reopen, a marketplace, and two famous theatres. It also hosts an annual jazz festival every July. It also features several Tudor style houses for visitors to view.
For sports lovers, Margate is quite an active place. It is home to several sports clubs and organizations. These include a local boxing club and yacht club, a cheerleading squad and the Margate F. C. Soccer team. National beach volleyball competitions are also held on the main sands of the beach and the Big Sky Beach Race takes place which attracts top quad riders and racers from the UK and overseas.
